What’s in a Name…

August 10, 2011

This little beauty was absolutely precious, and also boasts one of my favorite girl names in the world… though I won’t share it here, I will tell you that it starts with a C and was almost my Maddie’s middle name. What’s more, the name we finally chose for Maddie’s middle name is ALSO this little girl’s middle name! So not only do these parents have a beautiful little girl, I also happen to think that they have amazing taste in girl names!! Enjoy your preview, the gallery is in process!!

Take 2

July 7, 2011

Almost 2 years ago, I photographed this little one’s big sister in the same spot, for a “nearly lifesized” wall portrait that now hangs in their upstairs hallway. They wanted a complimentary image of little sis at the same age, and she cooperated so well that I think we achieved that goal with ease.

Anna-Karin: Great family portraits!! So nice to see children this age documented as that is often over looked. It will not be long until these children are grown and it is great for them to have these beautiful portraits to remember how their family was when at this stage of life. Particularly love the one of the two kids together!

Claire: Gorgeous family! I would have a hard time picking - they are all canvas worthy!

Christy Johnson: What a beautiful family! I agree with Anna-Karin; so nice to see "older" kids in family portraits.

PamN: These are beautiful and timeless. My favorite is the third one - I think it would be such a wonderful custom art piece as a canvas in their home!

Sophie Crew: Beautiful family! Love that cool blue chair too!

Laurie: Agreed, beautiful family!

Jenny Ruddle: Love the clean freshness of these, lovely memories for years to come!!

Jenna Slomp: Gorgeous photos, I am sure they love them all! I would definitely have to get at least one of these enlarged and hung huge on my wall!

Lisa Kelly: I adore that first image, it really makes me smile. What a great family session.

Bump!

June 21, 2011

This mommy-to-be is special to my family, because she is a former teacher of my oldest son. We are so excited for her and her husband to have a little one of their own. She had the idea for the “bump” sign, and I think it is so cute – great job, A+!!

Welcome to my Pro Photographers’ Blog Carousel #3!
As a reminder, I am participating with my group of amazing child portrait photographer friends to bring you a revolving “Blog Carousel” – where we pick a theme, interpret it through our cameras, and post the results on our blog. One links to the next, so that you are taken on a “carousel” of beautiful work by some of the top names in the biz.

Our theme this time is “FRAMED”.

I took this photo on our annual Memorial Day trip to visit friends in upstate New York. We have fun digging for treasure in the old store rooms and attic, and these frames were perfect for this challenge. Enjoy! (Below my photo, you will find a link to Samara Hutcheson’s beautiful blog, and her fabulous contribution) – be sure to continue the journey!

Buffalo NY Newborn, Baby & Child Photographer Samara Hutcheson’s fantastic interpretation!!

alpana: Adorable! How did you manage to get that many cooperative subjects?

Anna Mayer: ha ha! So fun!

lauri: Haha! I love the way the girls are busting out of the frames. Great way to capture a bunch of kids!

Simone Hanckel: Gorgeous colours! I love the personalities coming out as well :)

Corey Sewell: That is too cute!

marmalade: ADORABLE! The framed kids look like they are being framed (in the set up sense, not in the literal sense!)

dawn sela: great interpretation! Also screams SUMMER...bare feet, grass, peeling paint barn wall! perfect!

dena robles: Okay, this has to be HUGE, as in beyond lifesize HUGE, on somebody's wall. What a fun, playful and unique way to get all the kids together!

Brandy Anderson: Great idea - I love how you were able to get so many children into one image!

lisa m: How cute is this!?! I love the vintage frames...and how the boys are trying to wrangle the girls in. So perfect!

Rebecca Mudrick: So so so adorable and perfect for the theme this month. Love the color too!

Mary Beth: So cute! All their different expressions and moods are unique and fun - love that you captured them that way.

Julie: i love this! What a fun idea for a cousins portrait!

Danna: hahaha love it!

TaraMc: Love the literal interpretation of the theme here. Such a fun image.

amanda padgham: Oh my gosh- this is incredible! I love everything about this- the colors, the grouping, the creativity! Awesome!

Je Neuhaus: Not only is this an adorably cute take on the theme "framed", what a creative way to help corral those energetic kids for portraits!

Samara: So so sad I missed you guys this year. This is amazing!!

Heather Rivlin: I love this. Not only does it play on the literal "framed" having them in frames, but the frames reminded me of those old pillory stocks they used to use on those who'd been convicted....or perhaps FRAMED! :)

Jim Davis: Great use of FRAMED theme. Great Color.

It’s really amazing when you get to see clients over and over again as their children grow. This family has had multiple sessions, and I have even been lucky enough to get to know the sweet grandparents of these two little ones that I have been photographing since they were both newborns.
What a gorgeous day it was in the garden, maybe the most beautiful array of blooming flowers I have ever seen there – and I was shocked when I was reminded that it was three years ago that we photographed the oldest daughter as a baby in a basket in the same location. I had completely lost track of time. I LOOOVE all of my wonderful repeat clients that let me document their childrens’ lives as they grow. Thank you!!
Quick preview because I couldn’t go to bed without taking a peek at this session:

jen may: Karina, Love all those pictures. They all came out so well.

Karina: I love Ruthi's photos!

This dad really knows how to make a mom happy… he scheduled this session, battled around the beltway, and wrangled three kids through rush hour traffic and a photo shoot, all as a surprise for his wife for Mother’s Day! I hope she loves the images – what a great session we had! Full gallery to come shortly.

Welcome to the World!

May 6, 2011

I am so happy for my sweet friend and her husband, as they welcome their new daughter to the world! I’ve never seen a prettier baby, and she slept like a champ once we got her snoozing. Her grandma knit the little hat – isn’t it sweet!??
Congrats again, you guys!!
