Angels

July 23, 2010

If ever a title fit a session, this one does. What angels these little girls were! This was literally the calmest baby I have ever photographed, and what a doll of a big sister! Thanks to mom and dad for being so relaxed and easy to work with. What a great session we had! Enjoy the preview:

Feels Like Summer

May 22, 2010

Even though this is a location that I use very often, there was a change in the “feel” of the place since last week. It felt like summer. All the leaves are fully on the trees, the grass is just at that perfect long lush pre-dried-out stage, and the days are finally REALLY getting long. This was a great session, the only drawback being that the little guy was a prime target for the gnats… don’t know why they loved him so much – he must just have been sweeter than the rest of us!
Quick preview now, as I finish up the gallery over the next couple of days. Enjoy!

New Home

May 14, 2010

Another session with clients who have been with me since very early on. Did I already mention that the best part of this job is getting to know my clients and follow their kids as they grow? Although we have had many sessions over the past few years, this is the first in their beautiful new  home. I was lucky enough to get to photograph the extended family for the second time, and loved seeing their cute little cousin again, too! Thanks for another great time, guys.

Gallery coming soon… here is your preview:

Sisters and Swings

May 4, 2010

These clients are some of my most special.  They have been with me since their oldest was a newborn, and I have now photographed baby sister a few times as well. This session was a blast. Miss A cracked us all up with her “joke” songs, and little sister is the most delicate little flower of a thing you could ever hope to see, and we got a great “first steps” shot! These girls and their family are just so precious – I am so thankful for clients that stay with me through the years so that I can watch and record the kids as they grow!

The Golden Hour

May 4, 2010

If you have worked with me in the summer months, you will know that I often recommend that clients book their sessions in what I call the Golden Hour – that hour just before sunset when everything turns golden and hazy. Sometimes it is difficult to schedule around dinner, and bath, and wind-down time – but in the end, it’s SO worth it.

If you are on the fence about an evening session, this is why I really encourage everyone to consider it:

Girls in the Garden

April 21, 2010

Loved this session at the Garden with these pretty girls and their pretty mom.

As much fun as babies are, it’s really nice to sometimes have sessions where you can just say “stand there” and they actually listen and cooperate! ;-)

I am working to finish this full gallery, but for now, enjoy this little preview!

Three Months

April 6, 2010

So, we got a bit of a late start on newborn photos of this little guy – but actually – it was nice having a three month old for a change! He was smiley and interactive and happy throughout the entire session. Couple that with a beautiful home and sweet pet cats and a great mom, and this was a truly easy and fun session.

Gallery is almost done, Mom and Dad, but for now, enjoy the preview!!

East Meets West

April 6, 2010

I love when clients who are originally from other countries bring native dress or accessories to the session. These clients are originally from Afghanistan, and did part of their session in traditional native clothing. The colors are so beautiful with the spring flowers – just loved it!
Cutest little girl you have ever seen, too – great family!
Thanks, guys. Gallery is in process!

Spring has Sprung!

March 29, 2010

Finally, it seems that the DC area is truly showing signs of spring. Daffodils and cherry trees and tiny bits of green on previously dormant trees… it makes my heart beat faster! And this was such a great session. So happy to be outdoors again – here are a few previews while the gallery is in process.

Friends of Friends

March 11, 2010

So excited to start what I hope will be my regular blog format – Meet the Clients Q&A. After you check out their session, check out the suggested links to my clients’ favorite charities and local businesses!

Meet the Clients – The Strollo Family:

How did you hear about me: Through our friends, Karina Lynch and Dave Bohley

What is your job and/or favorite hobby: We love being outdoors – running/walking in the park, playing tennis, swimming, etc.

Tell me one funny/interesting/unusual thing about yourself or your family: Together, our parents have 90 years of marriage under their belt (my parents will celebrate their 48th anniversary in June while Mike’s parents will celebrate their 42nd anniversary in August).  We think this is a wonderful example of love and commitment that we hope to follow.

Do you have a favorite charity or public service organization you would like me to link to? And tell me why you support it? Turning the Page (turningthepage.org) – because it’s DC-based, promotes literacy/education in the public-school system (we’re both proponents of a quality public education).

Do you have a local business you would like me to link to? Biagio Chocolate (www.biagiochocolate.com) is a place we love (of course, we don’t go as often now that we live in the burbs).
Describe an average day in your life: Well, now it involves feeding, burping, changing diapers, bathing, and only occasionally, sleeping!

Tell me what you hope your portraits will mean to you in 20 years: It’s hard to imagine now, but because our daughter grows so quickly, there will come a time that it’s difficult to remember her being so small and us being so young.  We want to keep the memories of our beautiful little girl as fresh as the crisp photograph on the next page of the photo album.
